Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson recently said he would vote for John McCain.
The statement brought about a dozen protestors to his front door at the Focus headquarters Thursday morning.
Dobson maintains a pro-life stance and has vowed to throw support behind candidates who feel the same way.
Thursday’s demonstrators believe a McCain endorsement is a broken promise.
"Dr. Dobson has violated his pledge to God," said protester Bob Enyart through a cell phone Thursday morning as he participated in a sit-in inside the Focus lobby.
The group representing American Right to Life said they stuck to their word recently.
"We hung the sheets of shame during the DNC from Table Mountain saying Democrats destroy unborn children," said spokesperson Leslie Hanks.
The group thinks Dobson, as an influential voice to Christian voters, should stick to his.
"He said as long as God let him live on this earth, never again would he vote for an individual candidate who would support taking innocent human life," Hanks said.
A quiet protest outside Focus on the Family moved inside as a group of eight sat in to pray and demand response from Focus leadership. Based on the platform established by GOP delegates in st. Paul this week, republicans outlined their priorities.
"It's purely pro-life," said Focus spokesperson Tom Minnery.
They have selected John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin to the ticket.
"Dr. Dobson can support a candidate who's nominated by a party like that," Minnery said.
McCain has in the past gone against party line, supporting abortion in cases of incest and rape, also showing interest in embryonic stem cell research.
"I think we'll see him turn around and agree with President Bush on very strong, no exception prohibition to embryonic research," Minnery said.
Some voters aren’t impressed, and think Dobson's endorsement of the republican hopeful does more harm than good.
The eight people who staged Thursday's sit- in were arrested and cited for trespassing on Focus on the Family grounds.
