The eyes of the nation were on Senator John McCain's pick for vice president Wednesday night.

Governor Sarah Palin's first speech on the republican ticket reached republican and democratic voters alike.

State Senator John Morse (D) Colorado Springs, sat down in KKTV’s studios to watch Palin’s address.

Fresh from spending most of last week in Denver for the Democratic National Convention, Senator Morse gave Palin high marks for composure and making a few memorable remarks.

He criticized Palin, however, for going after Democratic hopeful Senator Barack Obama's level of experience.

"Even as a candidate for the president of the United States, he's still a community organizer, and he's still getting people at the level of the street involved now in a campaign for the highest office in the land,” Morse said.

“And I think it scares the (daylights) quite frankly out of people like Sarah Palin because as [Obama] registers more and more voters, those voters aren't going to vote Republican. They live on the streets day to day and understand it's the failed policies of the Bush administration the last 8 years that she and Senator McCain want to continue, that have got us where we are."

Looking to the next eight weeks, Morse believes starting with McCain and Palin's appearance in Colorado Springs Saturday, both sides of the race for the White House will spend more time in Colorado, which many believe will be a battle ground state this November.

How come you never see repulican's reaction to the democrats speech on the news? The liberal media does all they can to push democratic candidates. I am disappointed in KKTV. Mark: wouldn't you think you would want someone more like us running our country instead of someone who believes they are better then the rest of us? To the rest of the democrats, think about this: we put someone in office who doesn't support the military, Obama. Those men and women are the one's fighting so that we have the freedom to post whatever we want on this website and have the freedom to vote on our leader at all. The democrats are willing to elect someone who doesn't support that. To me, that says something HUGE!!!!!

If McCain becomes President and he had a heart attack and died we would have a soccer mom in control. Who will you vote for now. I will vote for the young and intelligent. You need to think about it. Obama 11/04/2008

Granted President Bush rating are not to high, however congress rating are considerably lower. Congress continues to do a very poor job.

First of all you all need to check your facts. Obama isn't muslim. Obama does display the flag inside of his plane. Obama is for our country. But just like Bush...McCain lies about everything. So 4 more years of lies vote for Mccain/Palin. She reminds me of hitler, so I wont be voting for them.

Posted by: TJ Location: CS on Sep 6, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Kim you are incorrect. Check your facts.

Posted by: MIMI Location: COLO SPR on Sep 6, 2008 at 05:30 PM
....AND SO AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE, IT LOOKS LIKE MC CAIN REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO BE PRESIDENT.

Posted by: Kay Location: Co Sprgs on Sep 6, 2008 at 04:40 PM
Um Martinez, the only experience Obama has in forgein affairs is Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise),he has never been anywhere else on the planet of any American ally means and thus has NO experience with our closest allies. He did however learn the Koran in Indonesia, and perhaps watched cartoons because um, he doesn't even speak the language there. He was, however, registered as a Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check his own book).

Those who are UNenlightened and UNeducated will vote for McCain/Palin.

Sorry dems the republicans always wins this state.

No Obama period!!!!

Posted by: Martinez Location: Southside on Sep 6, 2008 at 12:13 PM
I feel sorry if you will not vote for Obama simply because of a rumor that he didnt wear a flag pin at some event. That is very stupid logic. Thats like saying I will not vote for McCain because he has a hideous lump in his neck. The facts are clear, McCain is in his 70's, there is no gaurentee he will even survive a presidency. Obama clearly has more experience than Palin. All her experience equates to being a hockey mom and being Governer to a state with less people than Chicago. Obama has had 20 years in public service, most of that time in leadership, in a major state. Do your research before you shoot off your mouth.

I have to agree a guy that cant put his hand over his heart for the country he is trying to run has red flag written all over it! and as far as palin being mean, maybe she was a little fired up after the press attacked her personal life with her family. I would have been irate and said worse things than she did. mccain/palin all the way NObama!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Bob Location: CS on Sep 6, 2008 at 07:24 AM
Kay sounds so intelligent up until the part of Arabic Muslim...are you kidding me?? Move on from your false argument and do better research of your FACTS!! Read Kim's note below, great post!!

Posted by: wk on Sep 6, 2008 at 06:21 AM
Kim you might love your flag but the person you are voting on to run our country with not diplay it on his plane! In addition next time our Anthem is played watch OBAMA he will not put his hand over his heart! How un American is that? And We want him in Charge? GIVE me a break!

It seems to me that O'Bama supporters are those that are not and were not affected by 911. They are those that don't care what Rev. Wright stands for and believes in. O'Bama attended that church for many years. They are those that don't believe in American values and the American flag and America as a country. I do have a problem with terrorist/terrorism. O'Bama, O'Wanna. If you are anti american perhaps you should jump on O'Bama's band wagon.

I've watched and listened. I'm a more scared kitty cat about Obama more than I am about McCain. I'm voting for McCain.

Posted by: roberta Location: shynpi@comcast.net on Sep 5, 2008 at 05:05 PM
Hey Keith. if you think that McCain will shake things up, think again. Mc Cain is part of the regime in Washington that Bush created - a horrible economy and favoring the Iraq War. So if you think any change will happen in the next four years with McCain - we'll be in the same economic mess and be in Iraq as well as he will continue the Bush legacy. Thanks for the thick skin advice. Everybody is entitled to their own special clubs . Obama all the way!!!!!!

Posted by: Kay Location: Co Springs on Sep 5, 2008 at 04:20 PM
Kim stop being so overdramatic. Stating researched facts is not media swaying. My son was in Irag for two years and I have relatives including my own father who was on a Navy ship in World War 2 who all "Honrable" fault for your right to still run your mouth. And you support an Arab who took the flag you LOVE off his plane ? I don't know what anyone else thinks, but seeing pictures of President Nixon greeting John McCain after being missing for 5 years and a half years on crutches looked pretty much like freaking fact to me.

Posted by: Kim Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:43 PM
Some of the comments below seem to be centered entirely around propaganda as opposed to research. I support Obama. I stand for everything he does and I LOVE MY FLAG AND MY COUNTRY and I'm intelligent enough to research BOTH sides and make my own decision as opposed to listening to slanted propaganda about either side. Grow up and think for yourselves. Oh and John McCain ISN'T a celebrity? What about his movie, what about his book? What about every commercial that talks about his stint as a pow? I lost 2 brothers in Vietnam and one is MIA...so don't talk to me about how honorable war is. Especially when we aren't even close to the people who attacked us on 911.

Posted by: Ken Location: Colorado on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:28 PM
I've been a Democrat for over 25 years. After seeing Palin and McCain this week, I have to agree with them with regards of Obama being underqualified for this election. I've made up my mind this week and will vote McCain.

Kay and Don well said.

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT 2008 !

Posted by: Ken Location: CO on Sep 5, 2008 at 12:13 PM
More of the same...old cronies and a young hottie running the country...no way.

Posted by: Robertq Location: shynpi@comcast.net on Sep 5, 2008 at 11:53 AM
Thanks for your comments. Yes, there is the NAACP, JET and Univision. But what about the NRA, Focus, Haliburton it seems like these groups are representative of another culture. I like the all inclusiveness of Obama - you see he sees the big picture.... And, yes maybe only a few minorities live in Minn, but there are buses, trains. etc. The Republican Party is so exclusive of ALL people... REMEMBER, Washington, Lincoln, have their special days too......

Posted by: Rob Location: COS on Sep 5, 2008 at 11:21 AM
As Palin put it, "There is only one man in this election that fought for my country and that man is John McCain."

Posted by: Keith Location: C/S on Sep 5, 2008 at 10:35 AM
"Voting for Obama is like Chickens voting for COL Sanders". Wake up America!!!McCain/Palin I believe they will shake things up!! Democratics want a socialist country. Democrats want to hook you on government handouts so you can't live without them. Democrats hate it when you are self sufficient. The economy is screwed because to many people live beyond their means and don't have the personal responsibility, they expect the government to fix their problems. Oh and for Roberta eventually people that cry racisim enough turn into the racist themselves If something doesn't go a minorities way they cry foul!!! Grow some thicker Skin.

Posted by: Don Location: C/S on Sep 5, 2008 at 05:46 AM
Roberta, white people are the minority when every other ethnic society has their own history month. Maybe less people of color live in Minnesota. Many people are flocking to Obama because he's the same color? Wake up people, he has ulterior motives! Let's not forget about Univision, BET, JET magazine, the NAACP, The Essence awards and such. I'll be VERY surprised if this thread is posted.

Posted by: henry on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:43 AM
Wow, she fishes, she's a hunter...too bad she married already. What a hottie!!! His message struck a positive cord with me, too. OK, I'll vote them both. Mccain & Palin all the way.

Posted by: Kevin Location: Colo Spgs on Sep 5, 2008 at 12:03 AM
The GOP is all about bashing and lying. It was so interesting to see the Daily show last night. Jon Stewart played video clicks from Palin, Rove, and others that said one thing when they were discussing their views/candidates, and exactly the opposite when virtually the same conditions were present involving the Dems. What a crock. They are so hypocritical, it makes me sick. Well guess what - America has heard your lies too many times to believe you now. We have experienced the incompetence of your leadership. It's time to get America back on the right track. President Bush is the worst president in my lifetime, and probably in the history of this country. We don't need 4 more years of the McSame.

Posted by: Macain/Palin believer!! on Sep 4, 2008 at 08:05 PM
Maybe he needs to run for president in country that does not believe in its flag or its national anthem. I cannot believe people actually plan on voting that into running our country!

Posted by: Elle Location: Woodland Park on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:43 PM
Obama is a joke people. There is too many unanswered questions with that "man", although he is a great speaker with cute ideas, but he has no realistic plans.

Posted by: Roberta Location: shynpi@comcast.net on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:14 PM
I do think Gov Palin is a great speaker, but I found her remarks and that of her fellow Repubilicans trite and negative. This election is about issues not personalities and personal attacks. The Republicans are scrambling.... Why else would they choose her if they sincerely wanted to win? Another point - How many minorities were in the audience last night? A handful? This is not my America - this is very unAmerican . This country is about all people , not the good ol boys and a few others waving flags, chanting DRILL DRILL DRILL>>>> wake up !!!!!!

Posted by: DM Location: Califorado Springs on Sep 4, 2008 at 02:58 PM
Nicely done Kay!

Posted by: Kay Location: Co Sprgs on Sep 4, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Mean ? LMAO. You'd rather vote for an Arabic Muslem who says he voted against the Iraq war. OMG people do your homework. The war started in 2003 Your lying hyped up celebrity boy wasn't even elected into office until Jan 2005. From the time Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days. I keep kool aid in my refrigerator longer than that. Exactly "THE FACTS" which is why Wallstreet has dubbed Obama "The Tax Man Cometh". McCain and Palin both have kids involved in Iraq, the resolution is personal to them. A man who removes this country's flag from his aircraft for President ?

OBAMA '08!!!!!!!!!!!

I will not vote for a man that does not believe in putting his hand over his heart during our National Athem. THIS IS AMERICA! Mccain/Palin all the way!

Does she need to be so mean - what was that all about. I've met folks like her. Crafty speech writer - crafty deliverer. And very very mean.

The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded. Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families. He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise

Her speach was WEAK! OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT 08 !!!!

Posted by: D Location: CS on Sep 4, 2008 at 07:33 AM
The governor's speech last night was riveting, to the point, and strong. There were solutions mentioned throughout the evening contrasted with the democrats solutions which were very vague in last week's convention. Republican's hit it on the head when they said Dem's want to raise taxes and make government bigger. It was in Obama's speech on Thursday when he said he would raise $150 billion and get rid of government programs that don't work. He did not specify where he would get the money or what programs don't work. The money comes from raising our taxes. We can't as Americans afford and increase in taxes therefore it would be irresponsible to vote for NObama. As far as the age and death goes, anybody can die at any age and death is no respecter of a person's age or position.

Posted by: Theresa Location: Colorado Springs on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:31 AM
Once again the republicans did not tell us what "they" were going to do to help America out of the slump we are in. They do what they do best - twist the truth about the democratic party. Frankly, Palin scares me when she makes remarks about "God's will" and the war. Sounds like a radical Islam view to me - and we want her as vice president? She and McCain are loose cannons - instead of "God Bless America" we should be saying "God help America"

Posted by: vince Location: sacramento on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:29 AM
Sarah Palin is all talk and no substance. Just a journalism sidekick who got lucky. Just another wanabe Republican liar. Voted for the bridge to nowhere before she voted against it.

Sen. morose needs a reality check, along with the entire democratic party. NObama, no way, no how. McCain/Palin in 08.
