A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
Three people were killed and at least six injured when tornadoes moved across North Texas late yesterday.
A Collin County spokeswoman says severe weather struck near the towns of Anna and Westminster, north of Dallas, and at least one tornado touched down north of Anna.
Jamie Nicolay said the dead include an elderly couple and a teenager.
Six people were transported to area hospitals.
Nicolay says the storm destroyed at least six houses, although full assessment of damage to the area has been limited by darkness.
More than 100 rescue and utility workers responded to the area to assess the damage and work on getting power restored to about 300 houses that lost electricity.
The American Red Cross has opened a shelter in Anna, a town of about 65-hundred residents.
