Police Station Shooting

One police officer is dead, and authorities say a second officer remains in critical condition after a shooting outside a Fairfax County, Virginia, police station.

Police chief David Rohrer says a 40 year old female detective who had been with the department for nine years was killed in the incident.

The second officer has life-threatening injuries and underwent surgery overnight.

Authorities say the 18 year old gunman opened fire in a back parking lot of a Chantilly, Virginia, police station, near Washington D.C., around 3:30 p-m yesterday.

Walker says the gunman was shot to death in an exchange of gunfire with police.
