Springs police are looking for a sexual assault suspect who climbed through a woman’s apartment window. It happened early Saturday morning on Bonnie Court on the southeast part of town.
The victim’s neighbor, Tiphaine Clark, said she thought she was safe behind closed doors. "Oh my Jesus, not on my block," Clark said.
Police say the man used the window to get into the woman's apartment. She only left it open 2 inches to get some air. Police say the suspect choked her and then sexually assaulted her.
It's alarming neighbors who said, they won't take any chances. "It's scary. It makes me want to lock my doors and windows," said Clark.
Police warn open windows are an open invitation for sexual predators. They said to lock your windows and doors when you're away from home or asleep. You can also install motion detectors on your windows or devices that can lock them even when they're slightly open.
Police are looking for the suspect. They have a vague description of him. He’s white, 25-30 years old, 5’6”, about 160 pounds with shoulder length brown hair.
If you can help police track him down, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP in Colorado Springs or at 542-STOP in Pueblo.
