Republicans in El Paso County are surprised to hear Senator John McCain picked Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Greg Garcia, Chairman of the El Paso County Republicans says he was surprised, but pleased with McCain's decision.

He thinks Gov. Palin will compliment Sen. McCain well.

"This is a person that everyone in Colorado is going to like. Every person in El Paso County is going to like simply because of her conservative nature," said Garcia.

Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are expected to make an appearance in Colorado Springs on September, September 6.

'From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan. 143 days. I keep condiments in my refrigerator longer than that.

McCain/Palin in 08. Anything else would be a waste of time.

Please D, McSame picked Palin as purely a political stunt...scary that she would be a heartbeat away from being our President if something happens to McSame...what speech were you watching on Thursday that was vague, unclear and scary???

SGM Davis - I have over 10 years of Active Service and care very much about the military - I am too a gun-toting Democrat.

Governor Sarah Palin is a wonderful person who has made enormous strides in her life serving people - even democrats. Don't harsh her buzz in a futile attempt to elevate the Messiah!

Why didn't KKTV run a poll to find out what people think about McCain's VP choice, just like you did for Obama's choice? Seems like very one-sided reporting...

What a smart choice!! My vote goes to McCain. Obama with no clear direction to get behind, absolutely no substance. What a shame so many people fall for all the hipe.

Voting for Obama is like chickens voting for Col Sanders!!!!Sounds like Democrats have more of a history of pulling out their cigars...interesting.

Interesting- Did you go on welfare? I hope you are teaching your children change. If you don't they to will have issues. Shame, shame!

Mark, may I ask what leads you to believe that was McCain's motive? You must be a Space Geek.

She just had a baby? Wow. And her daughter is expecting, also. Best of luck to both of them. NObama, no way, no how. I just don't trust him. Sen. McCain & Gov. Palin, show us the light at the end of the tunnel.

How disrespectful to speak of two very accomplished people!! Senator McCain respects Gov. Palin because she can stand on her own two feet and defend what's right. What a GREAT choice!! My vote is for McCain not vague, unclear, scary NObama!!

Well Im pretty sure electing an Arabic Muslim loving Pro Partial Birth Killer who removes the American flag from his private plane and is called the "TAX MAN COMETH" by Wall Street will certainly be a change ?

Mark, as yourself this question. Since when has a Demoncrat ever cared about the military?

I live in El Paso County, Colorado Springs to be exact and I do not like Gov. Palin. Putting it mildly.

Not everyone is going to like this choice. I do not. As a military member, it disgusts me that Mccain would just do this to sway clinton voters. What a shame. Go Obama. Change is the amswer, not more of the same.

Sorry not EVERYONEONE in El Paso County is conservative. This woman needs to be home with her 4 month old baby. I too have 5 children and left the workforce when my oldest was born to raise my kids. I am unimpressed by this gun toating beauty queen. It does prove one thing to me-MCCain has not changed-I wonder if he will dump her if she gets fat....and how long will it take him to pull out a cigar!
