Military Funding for Colorado

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved a defense bill Friday that includes millions of dollars for four military installations in Colorado.

U.S. Senator Wayne Allard says Fort Carson is at the top of the list to receive funding to create a buffer zone around the base.

Buffer zones around military bases are meant to help conserve critical habitat.

He says Fort Carson is the Army's number-one priority in the nationwide buffer zone project, which has been given $50 million.

In addition, Allard says the post is in line to receive $24 million for phase two of the airfield arrival and departure complex and another $26 million for the special operations complex.

Schriever Air Force Base, Buckley Air Force Base and the Pueblo Depot will also get money for various projects.
