Two Colorado Springs businesses are broken into, thousands of dollars are stolen and police say they have few leads.
It happened at the Market Center Shopping Center near Austin Bluffs Pkwy and Barnes Rd.
Police say whoever did it knew what they were doing. They say the crooks were sophisticated enough to disarm phone lines and security alarms.
The Arc Thrift Store got hit first two weeks ago and Sticks Billiards was burglarized on Sunday. Both incidents happened on Sundays which is a day most safes are stuffed with cash.
"We're here to help people with developmental disabilities," said Susan McPherson who is District Manager of the Arc Thrift Stores.
McPherson says who ever did it didn't steal from the Arc, but from those who rely on donations.
$10,000 in cash was stolen from the Arc safe.
"These people know something about safes," said Sgt. Dennis Dougan with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
The bad guys also created $25,000 in damage at the Arc. "$35,000 In our world is huge. Huge," said McPherson.
McPherson is certain that the cold hearted thieves stalked them first and memorized their routines and where things are.
"We're not sure exactly how they're getting in," said Sgt. Dougan.
Police say the crooks didn't break in through the windows or the doors and they say there is a good chance that whoever did it hide inside the store and waited for it to close before burglarizing it.
The Arc now has security cameras and McPherson says she's sure it won't happen again, and if it does they'll be caught on tape.
The crooks who broke into Sticks Billiards on Sunday cut through a wall from next door, blew their way into the safe with explosives and wiped out about $7,000 out of that safe.
Police say this is the perfect time to remind business owners to make deposits more frequently.
