After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. The Bush Administration says local governments and business leaders shouldn't count on the federal government alone to rescue them in the event of a bird flu pandemic.
In a letter announcing an updated bird flu plan, President Bush says the U.S., "Will face this global threat," as a united front. But Bush also writes that individual citizens are "necessary to the success" of minimizing what could be massive social and economic disruptions.
Today's report predicts a severe outbreak could take up to 40 percent of the work force off the job for a few weeks at a time.
The strategy also breaks down exactly which government agency is responsible for some 300 tasks to slow the spread of the virus and dispense stockpiles of medical supplies.
