A woman was saved from her burning home Wednesday when a neighboring family hears her screaming.

It happened at 2040 Lynwood Lane in Pueblo. A woman and her two daughters heard the screams. One of the girls ran home and grabbed her grandfather and his friend.

They ran to the burning house. When they arrived they tried to open the door but the handle broke off. That is when the grandfather kicked the door in.

They say the woman inside was laying on the floor, badly burned. They were able to carry her outside before the ambulance arrived and brought her to the hospital.

Firefighters say the fire began in the bedroom. The damage to the home was centralized there. The rest of the home had smoke damage.

The woman's two dogs died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
