The Pentagon has confirmed one of the U.S. troops killed in the war in Iraq is from Colorado. Military officials say Lance Corporal Thomas Slocum was among nine Marines killed during fighting near An Nasiriyah on Sunday.
Slocum was from Thornton, and graduated from Skyview High School. The Pentagon did not have Slocum's age.
The soldiers were killed after Iraqi soldiers approached U.S. troops as if to surrender but then attacked.
Slocum was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
