Authorities at say 17 people are being transported to area hospitals after a Denver school bus carrying 24 middle school students crashed into a house this afternoon.
The extent of the injuries is unknown. Denver Fire Department spokesman Phil Champagne says there's little damage in side the school bus, but the house had significant structural damage.
Fire, police and paramedics reported to the scene at Fifth Avenue and Albion Street in east Denver.
Medical personnel were attending to several children on the lawn of a house across the street from the crash while others were loading patients into ambulances.
Champagne says the students from nearby Hill Middle School were on the bus when the crash occurred. He says it hit a car and then traveled another 300 yards. It crossed several lawns and nearly hit one house before crossing a street and crashing through the wall of a second house.
