A memorial service will be held Monday in Missouri for a Colorado College student who died while on spring break. Twenty-one-year-old Joseph Nathan Rosenblum drowned Friday in the waters of Baja, Mexico.

The Saint Louis Post Dispatch reports Rosenblum and four friends were sea kayaking when a sudden storm came up. Rosenblum led the group to shore then took off in his kayak to get help. He drowned during the attempt. His body was recovered later.

Rosenblum played soccer for Clayton High School in the Saint Louis area, and was president of the Community Service Club. He had worked as a camp counselor at Poulter Camp near Steamboat Springs during summer vacations.
