Calling for Changes

General says there's no coordinated campaign against Rumsfeld

A retired general says it's only a coincidence that a number of former military leaders are calling for Donald Rumsfeld's resignation at the same time.
Retired Major General John Batiste says he hasn't talked to other generals, but thinks the outspoken criticism of the defense secretary is "happening for a reason."
Batiste was in charge of the First Infantry Division force in Iraq. He says he declined a promotion to return to Iraq because he doesn't approve of Rumsfeld's management style.
Batiste also says he "completely" supports civilian control of the military. But he says troops went to war in Iraq under a defense secretary "who didn't understand leadership, who was abusive, who was arrogant and who didn't build a strong team."
A White House spokesman says Bush thinks "Rumsfeld is doing a very fine job."
