Locally heavy rain will remain possible overnight, with any showers and storms. Areas likely to see additional heavy rain will likely be east of I-25 and along HWY 50 from Canon City eastward. Authorities say a woman was taken to a hospital for a psychological evaluation after nearly reaching the hangars and runway at Peterson Air Force Base.
62 year old Arlene Johnston drove her sedan up on a sidewalk and past guards at a gate yesterday morning.
The woman drove two or three miles through the base, coming to within a half mile of the flight line, an area used by C-130s, F-16 fighters and other military planes.
Stefan Bocchino, spokesman for the 21st Space Wing, says Johnston led military police on a low-speed chase before she was boxed in and taken into custody without further incident.
Peterson Air Force Base is also home to the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
