Some residents in a Colorado Springs neighborhood are begging drivers to slow down on their street. On Eastmeadows Drive near Highway 115 neighbors say they’re concerned for their safety.

Monday night a speeding car crashed into a yard, causing damage to three homes.

"I think the vehicle was traveling about 90 miles per hour or so," said Urszula Ciara.

Ciara says two cars were racing down her street when one of them lost control around a curve. The car hit her neighbor’s mailbox, two trees and launched a large boulder into the air.

"The boulder went from the neighbors property behind the tree, it landed in our yard and then went about 70 feet, through the fence and landed on the other side of our neighbor’s yard," Ciara said.

She says this is the third accident that's happened in front of her home, since she moved here 3 years ago.

"When I leave for work I am afraid to get out of the driveway, they are just racing up and down this street," she said.

The speed limit on Eastmeadows is 30 miles per hour, around the curve in front of Ciara’s home it's 20.

Neighbors are now rallying together and asking the city for help.

"We are going to ask for speed bumps and a guardrail for around the curve," Ciara said.

They want to take precautions, before something like this happens again. They're afraid next time someone will get hurt.

Some of the residents who live on Eastmeadows are holding a meeting Tuesday night. They plan to start a petition to try and get the city to put in speed bumps.

I love people who say "Get over it". Easily said until "it" kills someone they love.

A lot of the street racers use side streets thinking that police officers will not be there. I live on the east side and people are always speeding down my street. We live in a neighborhood full of children. I watch my daughter very close and she is never even on the sidewalk without me near her but in this situation we could have been in our front yard and been hit. People need to learn to slow down. If they want to race go to Pueblo where they have a drag strip for you to race.
