The people of Baghdad are preparing to defend themselves. This after President Bush gave Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and his sons 48 hours to leave the country or face war.
Residents of Baghdad are stacking oil barrels and dry wood in parts of the city, ready to be set afire in hopes of concealing targets during any aerial bombardment by the U.S.
They're also mobbing bakeries and gas stations in a desperate rush for supplies. And hundreds of people have been snatching up seats on flights out of the country.
Thousands of demonstrators swept into Baghdad today, mobilized by a televised appeal to show their support for their leader. Waving pictures of Saddam Hussein, they promised him their “blood and souls.”
