Hundreds of people were hard at work at the Broadmoor on Monday. They weren't playing golf, but cleaning up the aftermath of the U.S. Senior Open.

The goal is to get the Broadmoor to look like it did before the Senior Open Championship. It's something that will take millions of dollars and time according to the USGA.

"This is the kind of thing that most people never see and it's the day after when everything is being broken down," said Doug Habgood, the Championship Director.

Hundreds of crew members have been drilling, wrapping up and dismantling full sized bleachers and tents. Workers will also be cleaning up the grounds by picking up all the trash fans left behind.

It took crew members eight weeks to construct everything and it'll take at least four weeks and hundreds of hands to break it all down.

"We have a multi-million dollar budget to build and tear down," said Habgood.

Then of course there's the huge task of getting the grass, which had been abused and trampled on, back up to par.

"It's pretty rough in the area where the gallery was. There was a lot of foot traffic there," said Jordan McCormick, Broadmoor's golf course Superintendent.

Parts of the golf course are dead, muddy and brown. But, "With a little water and some fertilizer and no traffic it'll be back to normal," said McCormick.

Last but not least is trying to get rid of all of the 2008 Senior Open merchandise. The USGA put everything up for sale at half price. They only did a one day sale on Monday at the Merchandise Pavilion that was set-up at the Broadmoor. Almost everything was sold.

The USGA didn't only sell off hats and t-shirts, but TV's and plants. Those were things the USGA didn't need once the Championship ended.

The Broadmoor has already started preparing for the U.S. Women's Open in 2011.

It's really a shame that people aren't mature enough to throw away their own trash. I'm sure they had trash cans/bins in the common areas.
