I just came up on a pack of wild dogs while coyote hunting here in El Paso, TX. These dogs were very mean and we not afraid of humans. Matter of fact they came into the rabbit calls we were making and then charged one of my friends. I had to shoot one of these dogs, so my point is, just how dangerous are they? They must know how to hunt because they came right into that wounded rabbit call. These animals are bad news and need to be dealt with NOW!!

Even if they do trap the dogs, the problem will continue because its people that are the problem not the dogs, people get dogs and realize they are too much responsibility so rather than find a home for them or take them to the shelter they do the easiest thing by dumping them like garbage they do the same thing with cats.

Dangerous! These "Wild" Dogs need to be dealt with. They are a danger to Humans and Livestock. Someone needs to get rid of them. I'm sure the PETA people would have no problem taking care of them if their 2 year old was killed by an entire pack of wild dogs. unbelievable!

Yeah K, thats what we need is a bunch of idiots running around with guns shooting at dogs! As gun owners we have the responsibility to not have to say "OOOPS! I thought that kid was a hair-less pit-bull!"

If you're going to trap the dogs, do it humanely! Just because people are scared, it doesn't mean that we should torture those that can not protect themselves. Some human is responsible for these dogs being homeless. They did not CHOOSE to be in this situation!

I think the people that abandon these helpless dogs should be trapped and not given food or water. This problem is caused by heartless humans. If you do not want your dog or cat take them to the shelter. We so called superiors have created our own hell here on earth, then we blame the animals.

Angel thanks for the humor, the early a.m. laugh was refreshing! K - Have you not been here long enough to know that everthing caught here falls under the catch and release program regardless if it's criminal, or animal ?

No wonder our country is in a financial mess. You're going to pay the DOA $8,000 to trap stray dogs that will be put down anyway. What are you going to do, trap them and release them somewhere else? Hell I'll take them out for a round of ammunition and $1,000. Why doesn't Ellicot have pack dog derby and see who can bring in the most hides!

I'm part of PETA...People Eating Tasting Animals. I say trap them to keep the kiddos and livestock safe. I'm tired of running into dog packs out where I live, and there's no leash law. I can't take a run without bringing mace to protect myself. The other PETA is a bunch of tree huggers who'll save a mouse instead of a child. IDIOTS!

I Agree Toni. We have had alot of Dropped of Dogs down here to. I followed a Pack of 4 of them on my 4 Wheeler last week and they was not scared of me at all. We also have Coyotes that don't bother us at all or our animals. The domesticated dogs will eat anything that they can find.

trap the dangrous dogs, I know PETA is trying to protect animal rights, but it is not right when somebody might get hurt, just let them runaway so they can hurt other people? its the same thing to human, if you hurt someone then it is a crime, and trap them is the best way to pervent someone get hurt. some poeple just can't think...

Wild dogs-- no way! Domesticated animals do not have the instincts, or the training, to exist in the wild for any period of time. Someone's feeding these dogs! (If they're dogs and not coyotes) I hope the whining woman, in your story, gets a chance to see a dog caught in a snare trap. Why not put out poisoned carcasses? Even that's more humane that traps and it will kill all forms of terrible wildlife and the woman's children will be safe from everything. Are guns illegal in Ellicott or are the people just too stupid to use them? Next it'll be aliens chasing their children. I'm really sick of these stupid city people coming to the country and trying to apply their lifestyle on everyone else.(don't do anything yourself just whine to the authorities) Wait until one of their kids get caught in a spring trap. Then you'll really hear the whining.

Too many people come out here and drop off unwanted animals and we are left having to deal with packs of dogs trying to survive off the land. Ellicott and other surrounding communities is not a shelter for animals to be abandoned. We have had our share of wild dogs chasing our livestock and even our children, but we resolve that issue ourselves. Just because you live in the country does not give your dog free reign to roam...if your dog is found anywhere on my land..where it DOES NOT BELONG...then it won't be coming home to you. I may sound cruel, but that is the only way the rancher and farmers and even us parents can truly protect what is ours. If you have a dog...keep him in a yard. If you don't want an animal...take it to a shelter. Having that animal put to sleep is more ethical then abandoning them to suffer with no food or water. Then they turn mean and vicious. Help us protect the animals and other familes by being more RESPONSIBLE!!!
