Spring Storm

Heavy snow is falling in the High Country, and strong winds are blowing across the plains -- all to create a lot of travel trouble for motorists around the state.

No highways in Colorado have been closed, but many are being described as icy, slushy or snowpacked.

Chain laws are in effect for U-S Highway 50 on Monarch Pass, along with U-S 550 on Coal Bank, Molas and Red Mountain passes, and U-S 145, Lizard Head Pass.

Interstate 80 had been closed between Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming earlier today. The road has since reopened, but conditions are similar to those in Colorado.

A blizzard warning is in effect through early afternoon for portions of the northeast plains, east of Interstate 25.

The National Weather Service has also issued a high wind warning for central and southern Weld County and southern Lincoln County, and a snow and blowing snow advisory for the mountains.
