Rod Smith held a press conference on Thursday at Dove Valley to announce that he is retiring from the Denver Broncos.

The 38-year-old Smith has been on the reserve/retired list since February and has had two hip operations in the last year-and-a-half.

He's the franchise's career leader in every major receiving category.

Smith holds franchise records for career receptions with 849; receiving yards with 11,389; touchdown catches with 68; touchdowns with 71; and 100-yard games with 31.

Greg, I'm not. You must not be a realist either.

It will be a long time before we see a player with the personal drive and integrity of a Rod Smith. His exemplary performance both on and off the field is something players should strive to achieve.

In case you haven't noticed the Bronco's have sucked for a long time. I was forced to face this fact a long time ago. I will never give up though.

Kevin, the Broncos have a better chance of catching smallpox than making it to the Super Bowl. Rod does have class. Shame the rest of the team/organization couldn't learn from that.

We the Broncos fans knew that he would either be retiring or playing, but he did play great and will be missed by the fans and team mates, now is the time for the Broncos to step up and fight to the super bowl

Rod Smith is a "Class Act"; the excitement he brought to the games, the values he has for being a role model to our youth, he brought style and pride to the Bronco's football team! Thanks for the many memories and best wishes to you and your family!

Rod Smith is a class act that all of our "troubled" Colorado professional athletes should follow...All the best to Mr. Rod Smith!

Truly the class of the organization, maybe Brandon Marshall can grow up and have 1/2 the class as Rod. He will be missed.....hopefully the Hall of Fame will remember him, I know the Ring of Fame will!!
