A Monument man has been charged with attempting to bribe an IRS Agent.

Edward Sobczewski, 47, was arrested Wednesday by special agents with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.

According to the indictment, Sobczewski attempted to bribe an IRS Revenue Agent with Colorado Rockies season tickets in return for the agent altering the defendant’s 2006 personal income tax return audit.

Sobczewski will be advised of the charges pending against him in Denver Thursday. If convicted of Bribery, Sobczewski faces up to 15 years in federal prison, and a maximum of $250,000 in fines.

How is this news worthy? Judging from the politcal climate in this State they will probably blow it all out of proportion and attempt to make an example of him. Hope he has a good lawywer.
