Ski Industry Numbers Up

Colorado's ski industry is heading into the final weeks of the season with snowrider visits almost eight percent ahead of last year. Colorado Ski Country U-S-A reports more than 7.7 million visits through February 28th. A visit represents one lift ticket bought and used.

How the state fares overall this year will depend on how it does during the spring break period -- the busiest time of the year. Thousands of fair-weather skiers and snowboarders rush the slopes as the weather warms. Resort officials concede they're concerned a war with Iraq could keep people at home.
