A mom and daughter team from Pueblo are behind bars, accused of selling crack cocaine.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Department busted them on Friday at their home on the 400 Block of Mesa Ave.

The people who live in that east side neighborhood are the ones who tipped off county officials.

After an investigation authorities obtained a search warrant, went in and handcuffed 52-year-old Janet Vasquez and her daughter 19-year-old Maria Vasquez.

According to neighbors the Pueblo home that was raided was once bustling with peoplem and is now empty.

"They're there they're gone. Another one comes they're gone, and that goes on the whole evening," said one concerned neighbor who wanted his identity concealed.

The concerned resident said he saw the entire bust unfold. "They started bringing people out and handcuffing them," said the concerned citizen. He said he couldn't be happier about it. "Everybody in the neighborhood wants them gone," said the concerned man.

Pueblo County Sheriff Officials say they uprooted a place where perhaps many were getting their hands on drugs. Their alleged providers was a mother daughter team. "People that deal narcotics a lot of times family members are in the system. It's not that uncommon," said Lt. Don Leach, with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.

When authorities made their bust on Friday they found what they were looking for, crack cocaine, but they also discovered several small children inside the house. "It's all tragic for the children. The children are the true victims," said Lt. Leach.

More than $2,000 cash and 12.8 grams of crack was confiscated.

Both women were charged with possession of an illegal substance and with the intent to sell it.

Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor says all tips are always welcome. He says it's one of the best ways to rid neighborhoods of drug trafficking.

Good. I'm glad they busted them. I had a drug dealer in my neighborhood and called the police. I didn't want the drugs around my kids and their friends, the associated other crimes like shootings and burglaries, or all those criminal strangers driving by my house and the bus stop. The police got those people out of there in a week! If you see this sort of behavior, call the cops.
