A bear breaks into a Circuit City in the Springs in Tuesday morning and it's all caught on tape. The Division of Wildlife said the bear was last seen in an area near North Academy and Woodmen. Officers suspect he’s taking a nap before returning home.

On the surveillance tape, the bear walked right through a glass door at Circuit City. He tried to go through another door, but bounced off. Frustrated, he stood up, trying to figure out how to get out of the loading dock area. A few seconds later, he left the same way he came in.

“What blows my mind is that I didn't hear it," said Dawn Greene. She is the supervisor who was getting ready to open the store.

“I saw the door was shattered. There was glass on the floor. I thought there was a human in there, which I was apparently wrong," said Greene.

Apparently, the bear was spotted sitting in a tree in the near-by parking lot. The Division of Wildlife scared him down and that's when he came running into Circuit City.

“This year has been a very active year for bears. We’re seeing bears we don't normally see because it’s so dry. They’re coming down looking for food," said Michael Seraphin with the DOW.

Greene joked the bear probably wasn't after a new T.V., but who knows what the bear-glur was after.

“I see deer around here, but never a bear. It was my first time and I don't wish to do it anytime soon," said Greene.

The DOW said the bear wasn't hurt at all from the broken glass. Of course, if the bear-glur is caught, he won't be facing any charges since he didn't make away with anything.

I know we're experiencing a "bear market", but this is ridiculous!

It's obvious C/S can't respect nature in all its forms because they invaded their land. They were here first!

I agree with DUH. If you cant respect nature in all its forms. MOVE TO NY. I'm a native of Colorado and I have respect for all 4 legged creatures. Cant say I have the same complainers and disrespectful 2 legged creatures. woo hoo its Wednesday!

"Anon" and "Wildlife Conservation Agent Man": Speaking from years of experience living amongst black bears in Colorado, I can safely say from watching the video that it was indeed, definitely a black bear. People need not be afraid of the bears along the front range. The black ones are not aggressive and are more afraid of you than you think. Just leave them alone and they'll go on their merry way.

People please remember that you moved into the bear's home, not the other way around. It's not looking for kids to eat, that's ridiculous. If you teach your kids to leave the bears alone, and you leave them alone yourself, it will leave you alone. Colorado's black bears do not eat children.

Bears are common up north.. no big deal about it ppl. its that time of year bears are out, also deer. so dont be scared, its part of living in Colorado.. duh..

Posted by: DUH on Jul 15, 2008 at 03:05 PM
The animals were here first before people moved in. It is common to have bears in Colorado. If people would leave the bear alone and stop chasing it I bet it would leave. If you do not like living with animals then do not build where they live. Simple.

The bear is in our bkyard and just sleeping away although am sure very hot as he is panting. hopefully no harm will come to the bear not bothering anyone

Quick tell the people out in falcon to lock thier doors, and keep the kids inside. The bear is loose and is looking for some scrumptious kids to eat. It could be a house cat but that doesnt mean we cant make a big deal about this.

It's not a bear...it's just a big dog groomed to look like a bear...right? I love colorado...it's the only place that has lions and bears freely roaming its towns!

It was bear, a Black Bear! I was there with my puppies headed to Petsmart. The bear almost went into Petsmart when the sliding glass doors sensed him and opened.

Yesterday it was a Lion, today its a bear. Thats odd that a bear would come into a busy part of the city. I hope they catch it before it harms somebody.

give him a break...he's looking for the lion.

Worthless without REAL photos. How do we know it's a bear? Residents here have already exhibited their lack of knowledge in recognizing wildlife.

Posted by: Anon Location: CS on Jul 15, 2008 at 08:49 AM
Are we sure it's really a bear?
