It’s been three years since troops deployed to Iraq and now, communications between soldiers and their friends and family is getting progressively better. Though technology has gotten substantially better with additions of satellite phones and email to keep in touch, many soldiers say they would rather open a piece of mail from a loved one. Sergeant Chris Harkey with the 4th Infantry Division says, “Letters make us feel like you’re loved, like people are thinking about you back home. It makes a soldier’s day so much better.”
