Qwest Communications has fired five sales staff members as part of an internal investigation of inflated sales and commissions. The fired employees include the Denver sales director, three managers and an assistant.
The firings are the latest among several dismissals in recent months. Qwest is dealing with a sales scandal in its national business accounts division. Qwest has acknowledged that millions of dollars of commissions were overpaid in 2001 and 2002 because some sales representatives inflated deals.
