Rescue crews are done searching for a Navy sailor from Colorado who disappeared after making a jump into the ocean off Oahu in Hawaii.
Honolulu Fire Captain Kenison Tejada says Zachary Ryan Johnson of Windsor, Colorado, went missing Saturday afternoon after he made a 15 or 20 foot jump into the water off Spitting Cave near Portlock.
Tejada says the 21 year old Johnson couldn't climb back up on the ledge, and when he tried to look for a better place to get to shore, the high tide pulled him out to sea.
He was already more than 400 yards offshore by the time rescue crews arrived.
The Navy says Johnson is an Operations Specialist Third Class aboard the Pearl Harbor-based guided missile cruiser U.S.S "Lake Erie."
He joined the Navy in March of 2004.
The search was called off Tuesday night.
