It could be the last gasp for a proposed statewide smoking ban.
The sticking point is whether bars will be exempt. The Colorado House and Senate are trying to reconcile their differing versions of the bill.
The Senate has voted to exempt some bars from the ban while the House supports including all bars.
A coalition of consumer and health groups and the Colorado Restaurant Association also wants all bars covered by the ban. They may yank their support for the bill if the exemption stands.
A House-Senate conference committee will try to hash out an agreement -- which would then go to the full chambers for approval.
Lobbyist Chuck Ford works for bars and taverns and he doesn't see any room for compromise -- either all bars are covered by the smoking ban or none is. He says it's take-it or leave-it time.
