Firefighters in Teller County are battling a wildfire near Wright's Reservoir. That's about 6 miles northwest of Cripple Creek.
Deputy Michael Baker with the Teller County Sheriff's Office tells 11 News the fire has burned about 14 and a half acres on private property. That's down a few acres from earlier estimates.
It was about 90 percent contained as of 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. They say it's expected to be fully contained by the end of the day. It's burning mostly grass, and pine trees. No homes are threatened.
Crews battled wind Friday, which they say is proving to be a problem in getting full containment.
Baker said 28 crews were brought in Friday morning to relieve some firefighters already on scene. A helicopter has helped efforts, dipping into Wright Reservoir and dropping water on the flames, while a tanker was flown in to drop slurry.
Crews on scene believe the fire has actually been burning since Tuesday or Wednesday and was likely sparked by lightning.
