Air Force Academy officials say former academy Superintendent Lieutenant General Kenneth Tallman has died at the age of 80.
He died yesterday at his home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Tallman was superintendent at the academy near Colorado Springs from June 1977 to June 1981.
He also was a training officer at the academy in 1956, when the school was operating at the former Lowry Air Force Base near Denver.
Tallman was a former president of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and retired as president emeritus in 1991.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday in Tallahassee.
He is to be buried on April 11th in Arlington National Cemetery.
