Ski Fines for Drunk Skiers and Boarders

Skiers who violate the Ski Safety Act by violating trail closures, skiing while intoxicated or leaving the scene of a collision could face increased fines under a measure to be taken up in the Senate Thursday.

The Senate Local Government Committee will hear testimony on the proposal, which already has passed the House.

Lawmakers say the increased penalties are necessary because of a number of recent accidents that have left skiers injured.
