Police are calling 3 young men heroes after they pulled a man from a burning motorcycle Tuesday night, on Jackson Street near Nevada.
Police say 46-year-old Ken Combs crashed his bike into a retaining wall and caught on fire.
21-year-old Charles McNew, 17-year-old Colt Garret and Richard Schlitt were nearby and pulled him away from the burning bike.
"We thought the bike was going to explode, that's why we drug him away," said McNew. "We thought it was going to blow up."
Police plan to nominate the young men for a citizen's award. Combs is in serious but stable condition at Penrose Hospital. The crash is still under investigation.
