Colorado State Patrol and El Paso County Search and Rescue respond to a car accident on Old Gold Camp Road.
A State Patrol Trooper says a teenage boy was driving his two friends westbound when he lost control of his car, driving it off the road and down about 50 feet into a tree.
Trooper Michael Miranda says the car was probably in the air for a few seconds before rolling.
Trooper Miranda says the driver was probably going too fast and lost control going around a curve. The three were taken to Memorial Hospital and released Wednesday afternoon. Their names have not been released because they are underage.
“They were very fortunate,” said Miranda, “In combination with seat belts and the fact that they hit some trees which slowed them down actually stopped them from continuing down the mountainside, both helped prevent further injuries.”
