Sunday was the day liquor stores can begin staying open on Sundays if they choose to.

Colorado is the 35th state to permit Sunday alcohol sales at retail stores. It's the 13th state to pass such a law since 2002, according to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States. That's the trade group that has lobbied for such laws across the country.

The council lost an attempt to repeal the Colorado blue law three years ago. Liquor store owners opposed the move but many changed their minds this year to help prevent supermarkets from winning the right to sell full-strength beer and wine.

Supermarkets say they should be now be allowed to sell beer and wine because few people will continue to by the 3.2 percent beer they're allowed to sell.

Haleia, aren't you the pot calling the kettle black?

Posted by: Haleia Location: CS on Jul 8, 2008 at 05:57 PM
yes Dave, the issue of not accepting a fake Christians judgement on others. It's clear you picked up that note as it didn't ring well in your ears. But then again, fake Christians will cling to their bible thumping and personal attacks and true ones will share it with grace.

Some of you, Jay and Haleia, have some issues. Did anyone else notice the redundant headline?

I think relgion has gone to far. The blue laws need to go away forever. If you own a business you should be able to operate it how you feel fit. If the religious don't like it don't shop there. I think most people are starting to get sick of religion being dragged into everything.

Haleia, what does that have to do with the topic at hand? looks like nothing. just like what your comment means to me. ;)

ITA Jay. People like Marcy will pick and choose scriptures to utilize as they see fit. I'll only have respect for those who take their stance to completion and not use any energy ie- cooking, driving, electricity, read newspapers etc as that was the original intent of the "rest day"

Blue laws are theocratic and anti-free market and anti-American

Posted by: Jay Location: Co springs on Jul 8, 2008 at 08:20 AM
Really Marcy?? that was the worst comment ever, keep religous beliefs off the site, we have enough as it is in the state... anyways this is going to hurt many liquor store, than help them. My friend owns a local liquor store here, and struggles 6 days as it was, 7 days is going to just make it worse on him.

whatever happen to the blue law? When all stores and businesses were closed on Sundays? Even God rested on the 7'th day. I find that America has gotten away from her Christian roots!

Well at least the drunks will be able to drink at home now and stay off the roads...

Fireworks are illegal in the city for the responsible Americans while we make it easier for drunks to get their fix 7 days a week. We can see how backwards and thoughtless our lawmakers are.
