Keg ID Bill Killed

By: Associated Press
Updated: Thu 8:24 PM, Feb 27, 2003

The House State Affairs Committee today killed a bill that would have identified and penalized adults who illegally purchase kegs of beer for teens.

House Bill 12-54 would have required liquor stores to record keg identification numbers along with information on the buyers. That
would have made it easier to trace buyers of kegs passed on to
teens.

Stores currently record only information on buyers.

The committee killed the bill six-to-four after lawmakers said
police have other options to file charges against teens who drink
illegally.
