His sweater is in the Smithsonian -- and his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of children of all ages.

Mr. Rogers has died -- and children's television will never be the same. Fred Rogers died early Thursday in Pittsburgh. He was 74 and had
learned he had stomach cancer just a few weeks ago.

David Newell, who played Mr. Feely on ``Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, ''says Rogers was "genuinely kind, a wonderful person." He says Rogers was the same person off-camera and on.

Joe Negri, the handyman in the neighborhood, says Rogers spent his life using television "for the good of children." Rogers filmed new episodes of his show for 32 years. The show will live on in reruns.
