Updated: 05/20/2013 - Two weekends left to catch one great show!
An Oregon woman who was driving a van that crashed and killed five of her fellow firefighters pleaded guilty to one careless driving charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Megan Helm was sentenced to 50 hours
community service and ordered to pay 317 dollars in fines and court
costs.
Helm could have faced 90 days in jail under a plea agreement
reached earlier this month.
She originally faced 10 misdemeanor charges of careless driving
causing death or injury.
Helm and 10 fire crew members from Oregon and Idaho were on
their way to the Hayman fire in central Colorado in June when the
van rolled on Interstate 70 near Parachute.
Five people died and five others were injured. Some family
members were initially critical of Helm but later blamed the
vehicle they were riding in.
