Detective Jared Jensen had been acting since he was eight years old. His Bachelor of Arts degree was also in acting, but his supervisor with the Colorado Springs Police Department's Metro Vice, Narcotics, & Intelligence Unit said he wanted to make a difference.

Lt. Tish Olszewski said, "He was dedicated. He was professional. He was respectful of all citizens."

Jensen was shot and killed Wednesday morning while working undercover for Metro VNI.

She added his death has been hard on the department and her, "It was very difficult to realize he wasn't going to be there today."

Olszewski spoke on behalf of Jensen's family Thursday. She said he was a devoted husband, and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He loved to golf, and he loved his cats.

A funeral is planned for Monday, February 27.
