It's been 40-years since Sergeant William Mendenhall served in the Vietnam War and was killed.
Thursday in Denver his daughter got back a piece of his history that helps her feel closer to him.
Some of his possessions were in a safety deposit box, kept by the state, for years after his family apparently lost track of them.
Among the items: her father's Purple Heart and other military medals, his wedding rings and some notebooks he had taken with him to war.
Up until now his daughter only had some black and white photos of her father.
