3 months after they were born, all 4 of Brett and Wendy Stanislao's precious quadruplets are home from the hospital. Bella, Giovanni, Vincenzo and Valentino Stanislao were born 10 weeks early on November 17, 2005, and are in fine health according to their parents.
"We thought we'd never have children," said Wendy Stanislao, "then we had a family over-night!"
The couple visited New York's Ellis Island last summer to learn more about their Italian family heritage and decided to name all 4 babies after distant relatives. The Stanislaos say naming their bundles of joy was the easy part, but getting pregnant took a miracle.
Once dangerously overweight, Wendy suffered from several health problems. Then in 2004, she underwent a gastric bypass surgery and has since lost 165 pounds. Doctors gave her a mild fertility drug called Clomid, and the rest is history.
According to Mom and Dad, the quadruplets go through 30 diapers, 1 can of formula and 7 loads of laundry every day. They credit an outpouring of community support for getting them through.
"That's 4 times the work," said Brett Stanislao, "but it's also four times the joy."
You can make a contribution to the Stanislaos at any Wells Farago Bank Branch, just mention the "Stanislao Quad Fund."
