Moisture Levels

February snows have helped boost moisture levelsin Colorado.

But experts say there's only a slight chance that enough precipitation will fall this spring to replenish water supplies.

Snowpack levels are at 77 percent of average statewide. That's
up from 71 percent at the beginning of the month.

Deputy state engineer Jack Byers says Colorado reservoirs are now one-point-seven million acre-feet below normal.

The reservoirs were only 500-thousand acre-feet short this time
last year.

An acre-foot equals 326-thousand gallons of water. That's enough
for a family of four for one year.
