The state Senate gave tentative approval Wednesday to a statewide concealed weapons plan that allows local communities to
regulate firearms as long as they do not try to prohibit them.
The bill also would wipe out all current local concealed weapons
laws on the books, and force local communities to start over.
Sam Mamet of the Colorado Municipal League says there is no way
to regulate firearms without some form of prohibition.
The sponsor says federal and state laws already cover problems
addressed by municipal laws, like the law in Vail that prohibits
possession of automatic weapons.
