Firefighters Helping in Shuttle Recovery

Twenty one wildland firefighters from southern colorado are on their way to eastern Texas. And though the mission isn't exactly what they're used to, they are definitely trained for it.

The firefighters are used to fighting through dense brush to attack fires, and they will be using those same skills in thier search for pieces of the shuttle.

They will, however, be bringing a few items unique to the task at hand. For example, extra rain gear and boots in case they get wet in the marshes, cots, and even a machette in some cases.

Because of the heighened security alert in the nation, many federal workers on the shuttle recovery mission were pulled to work security assignments. So, FEMA asked for wildland firefighters to help in the search, because they're used to being mobile, and self-sufficient.
