Hot coals from a hookah that were discarded in a wooden flower pot may be the cause of a residential complex fire this past weekend.
The fire at the condominium complex Sunday forced the evacuation of 36 units and the displacement of 25 University of Colorado students.
The Boulder Fire Department says the official cause is undetermined.
But officials there say there's evidence the fire started in a glass-enclosed deck on the third floor after the coals or charcoal from the Middle Eastern water pipe, were dropped into a pot with organic potting material.
Authorities don't expect any criminal charges will be filed in this case.
