Colorado Vaccine Used in Attack

A Japanese cult attacked Tokyo in 1993 with an innocuous strain of anthrax that was developed by a Colorado animal vaccine company.

The unsuccessful weapon was used by the doomsday cult that two
years later killed 12 people in an attack on a Tokyo subway station
with sarin nerve agent. An Arizona researcher told colleagues about the 1993 anthrax attack in Japan at yesterday's session of the American Association for the Advancement of Science's annual convention in Denver.

The group grew the anthrax in the basement of a their apartment
building in a Tokyo suburb and pumped it into the air from the
building's roof.

Using DNA, researchers at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff traced the microbe to the Sterne strain vaccine produced by Denver based Colorado Serum Company.
