In Colorado Springs, hundreds showed up for a public meeting on plans to widen Woodmen Road. The 98 million dollars proposal to expand the road to 6 lanes from I-25 to Powers and from Powers to Highway 24, to 4 lanes. Some people got pretty emotional. They all agree that Woodmen is a nightmare, especially during rush hour, but many neighbors also say, there's just no room to widen the road. Larry Purcell says he's "Opposed to it. It won't move any faster than now." J. J. Klikus agrees, adding that there's other east and west roads that would be better like, "Research, Briargate." The Federal Highway Administration will have the final say after all the input is considered. If the greenlight is given, construction would start by spring 2007.
