With a combo of windy, dry and warm conditions for our Wednesday afternoon, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for all counties along and east of the I-25 corridor between 12pm and 7pm this afternoon. PLEASE no outside burning, and if you see smoke, report it as soon as possible! Head over to the Weather tab for more information on the rest of the week.
Warm weather and lower demand since mid-December has helped push natural gas prices lower, leading Xcel Energy to propose a 21 percent decrease in what it charges residential and business customers.
Combined with lower use next month, the rate decrease is expected to lower residential bills by 31 percent to 125 dollars and 83 cents from 183 dollars and 34 cents this month.
Bills for typical small business customers are expected to drop 35 percent to 569 dollars and 31 cents from 881 dollars and 34 cents this month.
The new price reflects anticipated natural gas costs only for February.
If approved by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, the new rate would be effective on February first.
