Sentencing

A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing a pregnant teenager.

Twenty-one-year-old Michael Paul Baldwin pleaded guilty to
first-degree murder last November.

He was accused of strangling 15-year-old Amanda Lynn Hanson of
Colorado Springs.

Searchers found her body last August in Manitou Springs.

Investigators say Baldwin crushed her skull with a rock,
sexually assaulted her with sticks and forced a tree branch down
her throat.

Prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty in exchange
for Baldwin's plea and because Hanson's mother did not want it.

Authorities also dropped charges of sexual assault, criminal
abortion resulting in death and crime of violence.
