If a tornado, wildfire or even pandemic flu hit Pueblo, local businesses will be prepared.

On Wednesday, Pueblo businesses-- including doctors' offices, day cares and schools--learned how to prepare for any disaster.

Colorado is not immune to any type of natural disaster.

Recent events like the Ordway fire, Windsor tornado and salmonella outbreak in Alamosa, demonstrate the importance of being prepared.

Local businesses attended a seminar put on by the Pueblo City-County health department Wednesday, to learn the tools they need to create plans so they can recover from disasters quickly.

"We're gonna do the best to be ready for a disaster, because we're taking the time right now to plan," says Linda Terrones, Pueblo Pulmonary.

Because Pueblo businesses have yearly disaster plans, folks in the community can feel better knowing how well they might be able to respond to an event, should it happen to our community.

The City-County health department says it is also important to plan for your family.

Have emergency kits readily available, and have a meeting place in case of an emergency.
